Position Summary

The Meal Site Monitor will be responsible for monitoring the breakfast and lunch program at a specific site. This person will follow all established USDA and State regulations; and serve meals to children ages 1-18. 

Education, Training and Experience – minimum required to proficiently perform the job

Education / higher education: High School Graduate or equivalent 

Minimum number of years of directly related experience: Active in a community-based organization.  

Education and/or experience preferences: Six (6) months experience working with kids.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

Driver’s License requirement: Infrequent Driver -- Regular Driver's License      Required Endorsements: None  

Note -- For any driver, driving record must always meet City driving and insurability standards.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required to proficiently perform the job

Knowledge: Sensitivity to work with diverse ethnic and cultural-based organizations, City departments, and individuals.

Abilities: Effectively complete assigned tasks with little supervision.   Tactfully and effectively with public.  

Interaction with Groups/Agencies/Entities: Internal: Works with other department supervisors and   managers on routine assignments and special projects. Maintains harmonious, courteous, and   understanding relationships, while fostering a collaborative teamwork   environment. External: Works with contractors and the general   public on parks and recreation issues and problems. Presents a friendly, courteous image for   the City to the general public, customers, and public officials.

Level of independent decision making: Minimal-incumbent primarily carries-out instructions and follows established procedures 

Budgetary/Financial/Asset accountability: None -- Position has no accountability for, or authority to make, budgetary or financial decisions. 

Span of control: Responsibility for own work (no supervision or leadership expectations)

Essential Functions

The following functions are typical for this position. The omission of specific functions does not exclude them if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Receive food from RRPS, take temperature, and serve to children ages 1-18.
  • Maintain records and required documents specific to site.
  • Report problems that arise at Food Service Monitor.
  • Attend necessary trainings specific to the program.
  • Correctly fill out meal count spreadsheets and maintain in binder.
  • Performs other duties as assigned relevant to Summer Lunch / Breakfast site operations.
  • Performs outreach activities at assigned site.

Daily activity level: Blend of sedentary and physical work 

Physical characteristics: Job requires oral and aural communication; Job requires reading and comprehension of written materials; Grasping with hand, gripping; Involvement in verbal or physical confrontations; Bending/kneeling/crawling; Lifting/carrying/push/pull up to 20 lbs.
